Diagnostic Logging and Free/Busy

Diagnostic Logging helps you to find free/busy issues in Exchange. Depending on your Exchange version you will use different configurations described in this article.

Warning- Diagnostic logging saves data to the Application log. The log should be carefully monitored since it can fill and/or cause performance degredation on the server monitored.

 

Exchange 2003

Increase Logging Level for Public Folders.

Exchange 2007/2010

Increase Logging Level for Availability Service and set diagnostic level for

  • MSExchange Availability\Availability Service
  • MSExchange Availability\Availability Service General
  • MSExchange Availability\Availability Service Authentication
  • MSExchange Availability\Availability Service Authorization
  • MSExchange Autodiscover\Core
  • MSExchange Autodiscover\Web
  • MSExchange Autodiscover\Provider

Example: Get-EventLogLevel “MSExchange Availability\Availability Service*” | Set-EventLogLevel -Level high
