In this first part we describe how to use GALsync during an inter-org migration. It should be guarenteed that all users can send mails to each other, wether they are moved to the new environment or not.
OCS (Office Communication Server 2007) can profit from GALsync so that all addresses from multiple forests are available in each OCS addressbook. You only have to include Active Directory attribute msRTCSIP-PrimaryUserAddress when configuring export policy.
In this part I will tell you what objects from Active Directory may be synchronized between forests and how to chose them in GALsync’s directory tab.
Often a multi-forest environment is present after company take-overs without a strong need of migration into one forest. Trusts are not required in organizations with multiple Active Directories if you only want to share Global Address List (GAL). GALsync offers a simple Inter-Org Sync without trusts.
A transfer mode in GALsync’s terminology is the technical way data are transmitted between the source and the target forest. GALsync offers different options like email, windows file share or ftp.
GALsync is written in C# using .NET Framework. The GUI is Outlook 2007 like. In this blog I describe how the most important features are represented in our Graphical User Interface (GUI).

Perfectly functional, affordable and always efficient, it will save you tons of time and money, no matter if you are performing a one-time migration or doing that on a permanent basis!
